There's something very special about shooting weddings. You go on a journey with two people you barely know, watching the interactions between them, family and friends, and come out the other side with a story of what will be forever one of the most memorable days of their lives. To be able to document and create images that will be looked back on and cherished generations to come is an honour and incredibly rewarding which is why I love shooting them so much.
I will admit, the first wedding I shot for a family friend, by half way I swore I would never shoot another wedding again! I wasn't prepared for just how full on of a task it was going to be. It demands your full focus and attention for the entire day from the getting ready of the bride and groom all the way to the partying at the end. You have to be constantly on your toes as you never know when that magic moment will happen! By the end of the day I was exhausted but buzzing and to see the reaction of the happy couple when I delivered the final images was an amazing feeling and I was hooked.
My aim with my photography is to capture the joy, excitement and happiness throughout the day. I shoot a totally documentary style and fully believe that it is your day and it should remain that way without an intrusive photographer asking you to pose for a shot every 10 minutes. That being said I am always happy to do the odd posed shot and the obligatory group photos for the parents if you should so wish!
